|Overview:||The person appointed will be required to teach practical and / or technical subjects contributing to the craft and technician programmes we deliver. Underpinning knowledge is developed principally through BTEC and EAL qualifications from Entry level through to level 4 with maths and science content featuring highly, alongside a wide range of generic mechanical engineering subjects.
Competence qualifications are typically EAL NVQ Diplomas at levels 2 and 3 and a practical contribution to the development of engineering design skills and manufacturing technology would be welcomed as would ability to contribute to the knowledge development of engineering principles and commercial practice.
Delivery to a range of full-time, part time and evening programmes is an expectation and though apprenticeship programmes feature highly, so too do “school links” programmes - we deliver engineering and design GCSEs and BTECs to partner schools both in college and in local partner schools and experience of teaching within the schools sector would be valued. Our delivery model and timetabling are flexible and the technology available in the advanced engineering centre will be used to develop and benefit all students as well as meeting the training needs of industry.
A lecturer in the Engineering department will be expected to engage fully with the Quality Assurance and curriculum planning processes of the area and will be expected to fully assess and monitor / report learner progress in all aspects of our provision. Additionally there are mandatory CPD expectations.
