If your ambition is to work in the ever expanding media industry then this is the course focused on moving image and radio production for you. You will gain invaluable practical skills in a variety of disciplines from TV Production and fiction to documentary and radio. Learn lighting, camera work, editing as well as gaining industry knowledge to succeed in this competitive industry. Students get to work with a range of cutting-edge equipment and have access to workshops, online digital editing suites, digital SLR cameras and a fully equipped television studio as well as a 24/7 radio broadcasting studio. This one-year course has a vocational emphasis and enables you to develop your video and radio production skills, editing, sound recording, lens based and digital media. This course will give you the opportunity to gain invaluable practical skills in a variety of disciplines from TV Production and fiction to documentary and radio. Learn lighting, camera work, editing as well as gaining industry knowledge to succeed in this competitive industry. This two-year Higher National Diploma has a vocational emphasis and enables you to develop your video and radio production skills, editing, sound recording, lens based and digital media. The HND will be broken down into two academic years with eight units delivered per year. The Level 2 OCR Cambridge Technical Diploma in Media covers a variety of skills required in today's media industry. You will have access to excellent facilities including our state of the art TV and Radio studios. Study Outline. You will complete a variety of units that will give you the opportunity to, amongst other things - Create animations using clay or found objects - organise and run a photoshoot for film posters (including props) - edit images in Photoshop to create the film posters and other graphic products - write and record a short script, record sound effects and edit together into a radio piece - work in the TV studio as part of a team to produce a TV programme You will be encouraged to take an active role in the college radio station (Wiggle FM), take on photography or filming opportunities around the college and with college partners, and prepare materials to display in media exhibitions. >>>>Click here for more information
Are you creative? Sociable? Interested in technology? Interested in the media? Curious? Want to work in a TV or radio studio? Interested in design or photography? Then this is the course for you! Level 3 Media is a 1 or 2-year course. You will study 9 units in each year. The 18 unit qualification is equivalent to 3 A levels. Media students have a wide skill set and if you are creative or sociable, or interested in technology or the media or just plain curious and if you want to work in TV, Film, Design, Radio or Photography then this course provides you with the background to study at a higher level or to enter the industry to achieve your goal. The Extended Diploma in Media is year 2 of a 2 year course. You will study 9 units in year 1 and 9 units in year 2. The 18 unit qualification is equivalent to 3 A levels which provide you with a wide variety of media knowledge and media skills in a range of media areas. You will study and develop skills in the following areas: TV and film – planning, creating, filming editing and producing visual effects. Audio - planning, writing, directing shows and dramas: designing sound effects. Photography – understanding genres and producing a portfolio and digital editing. Graphic Design- planning, designing and creating graphic products, web sites and social media pages. Animation – planning, designing and filming an animation. Exhibition- design, planning and producing. In addition you will take part in media activities around college such as filming and photographing college events, participate in competitions such as World Skills, and visit London, Manchester and Bradford as part of your course.
