How do I get help from Learning Support?

If you think we could help you, then let us know so that we can arrange to meet you.

You can do this in a number of ways:

  1. Tick the box on the admissions form or enrolment form to identify that you have a learning difficulty, or a disability. Once you have done this we will either contact you ourselves or we will meet you at your course interview
  2. Contact the Learning Support Team
  3. Arrange with one of our team to talk to you about your concerns

Remember that anything that you talk to our team about will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Assessing your needs

To help you, we need to know what issues you are having, and you are the best person to advise us about this.

We use an assessment to get to know you and find out about the issues you are having with your learning, and how you think we might be able to help. Together we will explore the best way to support you, but anything we do will only be done with your permission.

Other assessments available at the College

Students with Irlen/Dyslexia for example, will have an Irlen or Dyslexia assessment with one of our Irlen Screening Team. We ca also do assessments to give you special exam arrangements

At the end of the assessment process and with your help, we will be able to provide the most appropriate support for your learning.

What can I do if I can't read information?

Students who are unable to read this information can have it produced in large print, Braille, signed using BSL, on cassette or CD, or as an MP3 audio file. It can also be produced in another language.

If you are assisting a student who cannot access this document, please contact the Learning Support Team who can arrange for a suitable format to be made available.
