Working in partnership with schools

The Schools Team provision at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College was established in 1999 with the specific aim of reaching out to pre-16 students and offering an alternative curriculum through its strength in vocational learning.

Originally focused on Level 1 students with an aptitude for vocational learning, the offer has grown substantially in strength and depth. Today, the team offers eight individual programmes across 10 different subject sectors at levels ranging from Entry Level 1 through to Level 2 qualifications across three counties.

The strength within the curriculum provision lies firstly in the fact that we have carefully evaluated the profile of our students. This means we can offer specific courses that best suit their needs and those of similar youngsters.

Secondly, as an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ provider of education, we have a wealth of experienced classroom practitioners who deliver their vocational expertise through high quality teaching. This takes place within enviable workshops and facilities that are supported and recognised as exemplary within education and industry. We also work closely with our industrial partners to further enhance our offer with the Young Apprenticeship programme being a particularly attractive route for students.

Students who access our courses do so safe in the knowledge that they are continuing on a personalised journey and on realising success here, the routes for progression to higher levels and alternative courses are well signposted.

Although a mature and exciting environment, standards of care that schools and parents/carers would expect to be in place are well established. Students benefit from strong levels of pastoral support ensuring that every student receives appropriate care and guidance.

Our provision has been so successful due to the positive working relationships that we have established with our partnership schools.
