Student counselling

The North Warwickshire & Hinckley College Counselling Service provides confidential help to any student who has an emotional or psychological problem. The service is available to both full and part-time students and is based at both the Nuneaton and Hinckley campuses in Student Services.

Emotional problems, external pressures and relationship difficulties can all get in the way of doing your best at College, not to mention life in general. Many students have found that talking with one of our professional trained counsellors has helped. Sometimes just putting your problems into words can help you gain a new perspective. The aim of counselling is to enable you to find your own resources to cope. Whilst it may take courage to take the first step and contact the counselling service it is a demonstration of your desire to do something constructive about whatever is troubling you.

Some of the common problems that the counsellors often help with include stress, bereavement, depression, drug or alcohol issues, sexuality, relationship problems, separated parents, self-esteem, anxiety, childhood sexual abuse, eating problems, rape, post-trauma, phobias and many others.

The counselling sessions usually last 50 minutes. An initial session will be arranged and then you and the counsellor will decide if more sessions would be helpful. The service offers predominantly short-term counselling.

Appointments can be made by contacting the counsellors on 024 7624 3160, by coming to see us in Student Services, or by emailing us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
