Creative arts open day!

Monday 11th June 2018

North Warwickshire and Hinckley College is opening the doors of its Creative Arts campus to showcase its post-16 and higher education provision at an event next month.

With courses up to degree level in a range of subjects from performing arts and photography to journalism, fashion and games design, the College’s state of the art campus at Hinckley offers an alternative to university that is becoming more and more popular.

Students can start after they have completed their GCSEs, with a Level 2 or 3 programme depending on their grades. Similarly, those leaving school with A Levels are perfectly placed to start at Level 4 and progress on to achieving a degree.

The event takes place between 5pm and 8pm at Lower Bond Street in Hinckley on Wednesday 27 June 2018.

Carrie-Anne Abdulai, Director of Higher Education for North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College explained that the College’s offer includes BTECs, HNCs, HNDs, Foundation Degrees, BAs and Higher Apprenticeships.

“Students can start their journey into higher education as soon as they leave school. They can progress all the way to degree level with us thanks to our partnerships with the Universities of Coventry, Warwick and West London as well as De Montfort University.

“Colleges present a much more practical alternative to universities and enable people to keep costs down by studying closer to home. The average distance between the home postcode and the learning location for college undergraduates is 17 miles, compared with 52 miles for those attending a university.

“Our course fees are much lower than those of universities with the cost of a full-time HND just £5,950 per year. We also offer the opportunity to convert the qualification into a degree with one further year of study on some programmes.

“In addition, courses can be followed on a part-time basis allowing the flexibility to combine work and study or manage family commitments.

“We have careers in mind when we approach the design of our courses, and students are taught by industry experts with plenty of experience in their fields. Employability skills are at the heart of what we teach, and we place great emphasis on guiding students towards exciting and fulfilling careers.

“HE courses at the College are usually taught in small groups with a focus on nurturing and support so people who would not normally follow the HE route can feel assured of getting all the attention they need. Our Access to HE courses are ideal for people who are returning to study or those not quite ready for university and these are also offered on an affordable and flexible basis.”

Situated in the centre of Hinckley, the Campus offers courses including art & design, computing, fashion & textiles, games development, graphic design, interior design, journalism, media, music, performing arts, and photography.

The College benefits from industry-standard facilities including a theatre, dance studio, photographic dark room, Mac suites, recording studio and print room.

In addition to its post-16 and higher education programmes, the College also offers part-time and distance learning opportunities for adults aiming to return to education or change their career. Everyone is welcome to attend the event to find out what is available and get some advice at first hand.

It is worth registering in advance because the 50th person to pre-register and attend the event will win a £20 Amazon voucher.
