Piano bash for great cause

Friday 30th June 2017

Students at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College had a smashing time raising money for charity last month.

30 students from Construction, Forklift Truck and Motor Vehicle courses used their tools to smash up 3 pianos with the aim to break each piece up so small it could fit through a letter box.

The event took place at the College’s Harrowbrook Construction Centre in Hinckley on Wednesday 24 May. The three groups of students raised a total of £187 for the Air Ambulance.

Andrew Burchnall, Fork Lift Truck Lecturer at the College said: “This was a great, albeit noisy way to raise money for a fantastic cause. It was a really engaging way to get the students involved in community fundraising.

“Special thanks to Mac skips who donated the use of the Skip, Piano Speed who donated the three pianos, Nuneaton Toolbox who donated PPE and Wickes in Nuneaton who donated a number of tools.”

Kate Sawyer volunteering Administration Officer at the Air Ambulance added: "Without the support of events like this one, we would not be able to keep on flying and saving lives."
