|Introduction||This course develops individual students in practical, creative and professional skills in an industrial training environment. We aim to introduce students to a broad media (moving image) production experience that includes short film, drama production, commercial client based practice and creative projects through moving image briefs. Students will have the opportunity to be involved in a full length feature film production with our partners the British Youth Film Academy.|
|Study Outline||Year 1: A Mixture of Moving Image; Production Design; Contextual and Film Studies; Screen Design for DVD and Production Management Skills.
Year 2: Moving Image-Including Commercial Work; Mixed Media Installation; Live Projects; UK Residentials; Exhibitions of Work; Sound For Screen and Digital Screen Design for Interactive Media.|
|Entry Requirements||You will need four GCSEs (grade C or above) or equivalent for example GNVQ Intermediate, First Diploma or a good portfolio of work. Students must demonstrate a positive work ethic, attitude and previous experience. We welcome applications from mature students.|
|Equipment||Stationery, diary, external hard drive (formatted to BOTH Mac and PC) USB dives as well as a decent sized SD card for filming on to. Access to a Mac laptop would be a significant advantage, but not necessary.|
|Attendance||Two years, full-time.|
|Assessment||You will be assessed several times in each individual module over the period of the programme. Classes are practical, sometimes run as workshops and most staff are practitioners currently working in their subject area.|
|Progression||Upon successful completion of the programme students have the necessary skills to enter university, our own HND programme, further training or a career in the media and communication industries.|
