|Introduction||Would you like to work with children in a school? This course provides an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of those involved in supporting teaching and learning in schools, and provides an opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required to do this effectively.|
|Study Outline||The course prepares you to support the teacher and the delivery of curriculum within a school, as well as developing skills to help children and young people to develop self-esteem, independence and skills for learning.
You will learn: safeguarding, child development, equality and diversity, communication and positive working relationships, support for colleagues, professional development, health and safety, behaviour management and support learning activities|
|Entry Requirements||A place on the course is offered subject to a successful interview.
You should have a reasonable level of literacy and numeracy,which will be assessed at your interview. Students must be working or volunteering in a classroom
environment within a school for at least two mornings a week or full day.
|Equipment||You will need lever arch files, plastic wallets and subject dividers
|Attendance||Tuesday or Thursday Evening 17.30 - 20.30, 32 weeks at the Nuneaton Campus.|
|Assessment||Throughout the year you will compile a portfolio of your
knowledge and evidence from your placement setting, which will
be assessed. A number of observations will be completed by a
College assessor visiting you in your placement at a time planned
|Progression||Possible progression onto the Diploma in Support Teaching and
Learning in Schools (Teaching Assistant).|
