IntroductionDo you want to work with children and play a part in their education and development? This Apprenticeship will prepare you to support the teacher in a school setting. You'll learn how to help children develop self-esteem, independence and skills for learning.
Study OutlineExamples of units you may cover include: -Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults -Schools as organisations -Support learning activities -Promote children and young people's positive behaviour -Develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults -Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people -Support assessment for learning -Engage in personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings -Support children and young people's health and safety -Understand child and young person development. -Understand how to safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people
Entry RequirementsEntry to the Advanced Apprenticeship can be from the Intermediate Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or from an Intermediate Apprenticeship in a relevant subject, extensive work experience in the industry, GCSEs, A-Levels or current employment. If you're interested in becoming an Apprentice, you will need to be employed or find an employer who is recruiting an Apprentice. AttendanceOne day per week at College and four days per week in the work place.
ProgressionAfter completing this Apprenticeships, you could go on to become a Teaching/Classroom/Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Support Assistant/Coordinator, Pastoral Welfare Support Assistant, Bilingual Support Assistant or Team Leader.
