IntroductionThis introductory certificate in welding is open to anybody over the age of 16 years who have an interest in welding, and who would like to pursue a career in welding.
Study OutlineThe course is based around the City & Guilds 3268 introductory welding skills qualification. The course will cover either: MIG/MAGS (Metal inert gas/Metal arc gas shielded) Welding MMA (Manual Metal Arc) Welding TIG/TAGS (Tungsten inert gas/Tungsten arc gas shielded) Welding Oxy-acetylene Welding
Entry RequirementsThere are no formal entry requirements for this course.
EquipmentPPE (Overalls, steel toe capped boots).
AttendanceThis is a 18 week course running one evening per week (2 1/2 hours each week), starting in September or March.
AssessmentThere are five practical tasks, which are completed in the workshop and assessed by the course tutor, plus an oral exam. Five basic joints (Practical tasks): Straight runs Flat tee fillet H.V. Tee (horizontal vertical) Outside corner Lap joint
ProgressionOn completion you can either move onto another process at the same level, or progress to the Level 2 version involving more complex joints.
