Mode Of Provision
This Edexcel BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is a two year part-time course. All students study four units in the first academic year and then four units in the second academic year. The course contains general engineering topics as well as an emphasis on mechanical engineering.
The mandatory units are: Analytical Methods for Engineers; Engineering Science; Project Design, Implementation and Evaluation. The specialist units typically include: Mechanical Principles; Health, Safety and Risk Assessment; Advanced CAD; Engineering Design; Manufacturing Process.
A BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering with at least merit grade in Mathematics and Mechanical Principles. Or a BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering with at least merit grade in Mathematics and Mechanical Principles plus Industrial Experience, or A Levels in Mathematics and Physics. Students who have not studied at this College will need to be interviewed by the course coordinator.
This programme is based at the Nuneaton Campus. You will be required to attend one day per week for 34 weeks each academic year, September - July, 09:00am to 18:15pm, in line with the college calendar.
You will be assessed in accordance with college policy and Edexcel assessment regulations. Assessment is largely by assignment work covering the outcomes specified in the units.
Students may progress to the Higher National Diploma in either Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering. Alternatively, there is the opportunity to progress to a degree programme at university.
