IntroductionThis is a one year full-time programme for anyone interested in pursuing a career in the uniformed services such as the Police, Fire, Ambulance, Army, Navy or Air Force, Prison/Probation Services or wishing to progress to Higher Education. It is equivalent to two A Levels.
Study OutlineStudents will study 6 units: International Institutions and Human Rights/Impact of War,Conflict and Terrorism; Current and Media Affairs; Crime and its Affects on Society; Command and Control; Planning and Management of Major Incidents; Exercise, Health and Lifestyle.
Entry RequirementsThe entry requirement is progression from a BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Public Services (Subject to relevant progression criteria).
EquipmentIndoor and Outdoor Sports kit/footwear.
AttendanceOne year, full time.
AssessmentThis programme is made up of a combination of practical and theoretical study with continuous assessment,written assignments and evidence gained from residential trips and the comprehensive programme of visiting speakers from the Public Services.
ProgressionWhen you have successfully completed the programme, you can either progress to do an HND or degree programme or seek employment in one of the Public Services.
