|Introduction||This is a one year full-time course for anyone interested in pursuing a career in the uniformed services such as the Police, Fire, Ambulance, Prison/Probation Services, Army, Navy and Air Force, or wishing to progress to higher education. It is equivalent to one A Level.|
|Study Outline||Students on this course will study five units: Government, Policies and the Public Services; Leadership and Teamwork; Citizenship and Diversity; Understanding Discipline in the Public Services; Fitness Testing and Training.
Your study programme will be a combination of classroom-based learning, with practical sessions and residential trips.|
|Entry Requirements||5 GCSEs at grade C or above including one from English, Maths or Double Science or Level 2 qualification in Public Services.|
|Equipment||You will need indoor and outdoor sports kit/footwear|
|Attendance||One year, full-time course.|
|Assessment||This course is made up of a combination of practical and theoretical study with continuous assessment, written assignments and evidence gained from residential trips and the comprehensive programme of visiting speakers from the Public Services.|
|Progression||The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma is a nationally recognised qualification designed to give you a good understanding of the working practices of all the Public Services. You can either seek employment or progress onto a BTEC Level 3 Diploma (Subject to meeting relevant progression criteria).|
