IntroductionThis course is aimed at 18 yr old and upwards who are intending to pursue a career in Policing whether as a regular Police Officer/Special Police Officer or Police Staff. This course will assist in understanding the various duties and tasks required for Public Service in Policing, and will lead if required to a full degree in the third year of study.
Study OutlineStudents will study the course over 2 years and will complete 13 units. These subjects will all be Public Service related and designed to prepare the student for all aspects of Public services.
Entry RequirementsLevel 3 qualification, and English and Maths Grade C and above, or equivalent life skills with a commitment to pass English and Maths at GCSE Grade C or above. UCAS Code: L400
EquipmentSelective research books, preferable a Laptop or Tablet computer (research purposes),items of stationery, potential police officers may also be required to enrol with NCALT.
AttendanceTwo years, full-time course. It will require learners to commit to lessons three days per week and to conduct private study outside of College time
AssessmentStudents will be assessed in a variety of ways which will include; Practical assessment, written exam, written essay and presentation.
Progression. It can lead to qualifications that are accepted as higher level education in the Police Service. It can also lead to employment in other industries, showing that the student is capable of both research and in depth study.
