IntroductionThis study programme will introduce you to many of the basic body and paint refinish repair skills necessary for gaining employment in the motor industry as a vehicle refinisher. You will undertake activities in the workshop developing your skills to repair and refinish motor vehicles. You will work with industry standard tools and equipment in our college workshop environment.
Study OutlineTo gain the full diploma for these qualifications learners must achieve all the planned units. Learners will also attend compulsory English and Maths sessions that will be implemented in to the study programme. Science, technology, engineering and mathematics are promoted within all lessons, to stretch and challenge students.
Entry RequirementsNo formal GCSE grades are required however initial assessment results at entry 2 should be achieved. A school report detailing a good attitude and attendance as well as a positive interview is required.
EquipmentYou will require steel toe boots, overalls, pens/pencils, a notebook, a memory stick and a folder. You will also require an industry standard face mask for when painting in the booth (This is a personal piece of equipment that should not be shared).
AttendanceYou will be required to attend 3 days per week as this is a full-time course. It is compulsory for you to attend all sessions including English and Maths Functional skills.Work experience is also a mandatory element to the study programme which must be attended. Your attendance must be 95% or above to enable successful completion of the study programme and subsequent achievement.
AssessmentYou will be assessed carrying out a number of practical tasks in the workshop, there will also be in-class verbal and written assessments and a number of on-line multiple choice assessments for all of your study programme elements (including English and Maths).
ProgressionOn successful completion of your study programme including English and Maths your next step will be to progress onto one of our Level 1 study programmes.
