|Introduction||This course covers the technical needs to work in the motor vehicle repair industry. It provides essential knowledge for technicians working on vehicles such as cars, vans in all kinds of garages, dealerships and maintenance depots. The service and maintenance course concentrates on the diagnostic and repair skills required for the industry.|
|Study Outline||All units require 3 workshop tasks, one 600-900 word assignment and an online exam pass to achieve this diploma.
Understand legislative and organisational requirements and procedures.
Automatic transmission: CVT and DSG systems.
Symptoms and Fault diagnosis.
Advanced Braking Systems.
Advanced Steering Systems.
Advanced Suspension Systems.
Single and multi-point injection systems.|
|Entry Requirements||Successful completion of a Level 2 motor vehicle course, GCSE Grades A - C, initial assessment levels level 2 - level 3 in English and Maths, good attendance and attitude to match.|
|Equipment||You will require steel toe cap boots, overalls, pen/pencil, notepad/folder and a memory stick.(STEM) science technology engineering and maths will be a feature in all lessons|
|Attendance||We expect students with in the motor vehicle section to behave in a manner which is fitting for employment, any poor behaviour displayed will be dealt with accordingly.You will be required to attend 3 days per week as this is a full-time course. It is compulsory for you to attend all sessions including English and Maths Functional Skills, with a minimum of 95% attendance.
If you are in a position where you have GCSE grades A-C in English and Maths or equivalent functional skill qualifications,|
|Assessment||You will be assessed carrying out a number of practical tasks in the workshop, written assignments and a number of on-line assessments for all of your study programme elements (including English and Maths).|
|Progression||On successful completion of your study programme including English and Maths your next step will be to progress in to employment or a suitable Apprenticeship where the work based elements would need to be achieved. You will have to have employment in the trade to access this opportunity. A level 4 advanced vehicle diagnostics and Management Competence qualification could be your next step, again you would need to ensure you are employed in a company.|
