IntroductionThis study programme covers the basic technical needs for today’s motor vehicle repair industry and body and paint repair sector. It provides essential knowledge for service and paint technicians working on vehicles such as cars, vans and motor cycles in all kinds of garages, dealerships and maintenance depots. Study OutlineYou will complete seven units which give you the essential skills and knowledge required for working in the industry. On the body and paint course you will build on the basic skills, knowledge and awareness of the basic panel repair process and vehicle refinish procedures. There are seven online exams, three assignments, task sheets from each unit to complete, Maths and English functional skills course work and exams to achieve.
Entry RequirementsSuccessful completion of a Level 1 motor vehicle course, GCSE Grades A - C, initial assessment levels Level 1 - Level 2 in English and Maths, good attendance (a minimum of 95% attendance is required for entry to the course.
EquipmentYou will require steel toe cap boots, overalls, pen/pencil, notepad/folder and a memory stick. In addition for body and paint students you will require an industry standard face mask for when painting in the booth (this is a personal piece of equipment - not to be shared).
AttendanceYou will be required to attend 3 days per week as this is a full-time course. It is compulsory for you to attend all sessions including English and Maths functional skills and work experience. You will be expected to achieve a minimum of 95% attendance and behave in a manner that demonstrate respect for staff and other students. You are expected to be punctual for the start of each lesson.
AssessmentYou will be assessed carrying out a number of practical tasks in the workshop; there will also be in-class verbal and written assessments and a number of on-line assessments for all of your study programme elements (including English and Maths). You will be assessed by completing written assignments phase tests. You will be expected to take notes during classroom sessions.
ProgressionOn successful completion of your study programme including English and Maths your next step will be to progress onto one of our level 3 study programmes. This will be in addition to a high level of commitment, effort, positive attitude and good attendance.
