IntroductionThis study programme covers the basic technical needs for todays motor vehicle repair industry.It provides essential knowledge for service technicians working on vehicles such as cars, vans and motor cycles in all kinds of garages, dealerships and maintenance depots. You will work with industry standard tools and equipment in our college workshop environments.
Study OutlineYou will complete a number of units which give you the essential skills and knowledge required for working in the industry. On the maintenance and repair course you will have an understanding of the different systems on a vehicle in order for it to operate.
Entry RequirementsGCSE Grades D - G,initial assessment levels entry 3 - level 1 in English and Maths, good report from school, good attendance and attitude to match.
EquipmentYou will require steel to-cap boots, overalls, pen/pencil, notepad/folder and a memory stick.
AttendanceYou will be required to attend 3 days per week as this is a full-time course. It is compulsory for you to attend all sessions including English and Maths functional skills. Work experience is also a mandatory element to the study programme which must be attended.95% is the expected attendance rate for this course.
AssessmentYou will be assessed carrying out a number of practical tasks in the workshop; there will also be in-class verbal and written assessments and a number of online assessments for all of your study programme elements (including English and Maths).
ProgressionOn successful completion of your study programme including English and Maths your next step will be to progress onto one of our Level 2 study programmes. This will be in addition to a high level of commitment, effort, positive attitude. Minimum attendance to progress 95%.
