IntroductionThis apprenticeship includes the full range of routine vehicle fitting procedures. It provides essential knowledge and skills for vehicle fitters working on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and fast fit businesses. We offer this study programme as a stepping stone to students achieving level 1 but wishing to progress
Study OutlineIt provides learners with the opportunity to study both the theory and practical aspects of some of the following: Inspecting, repairing and replacing high performance light vehicle and motorcycle tyres. Carrying out light vehicle front wheel alignment. Inspecting and replacing light vehicle clutches, exhaust components, suspension dampers, vehicle batteries and braking systems. Safe use of oxy-acetylene. Assessing and securing a roadside situation. Learners will gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace, agreeing customer vehicle needs and other skills associated with working in a garage. Assessments of your skills will be assessed in the work place.
Entry RequirementsGCSE grades A-D (Grades 9 - 4), preferably English, Maths and ICT. All candidates must sit an Initial assessment/Diagnostics (College entrance test) Level 1. If youÂ’re interested in becoming an Apprentice, you will need to be employed or find an employer who is recruiting an Apprentice. EquipmentYou will require steel toe cap boots, overalls, pen/pencil, notepad/folder and a memory stick
AttendanceFour days per week in the workplace and one day per week at College over two years
AssessmentThe Apprenticeship will be assessed in a variety of different ways such as online tests, written assignments, college and work based practical tests
ProgressionApprentices could progress to an advanced Vehicle Fitting Apprenticeship programme
QualificationLevel 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Vehicle Fitting Principles
