IntroductionFoundation Learning offer courses from Entry Level 1 to Level 1. The emphasis on all courses in this area is on preparing young people for independent living and/ or future employment. For many it is also the stepping stone to further education courses in specific areas. Small group sizes ensure that all learners are fully supported, and individually tailored support packages can be discussed during interview. As a team we try to develop confidence and release potential through a wide range of activities. Courses are available for learners aged 16-25 (depending upon EHCP details and requirements) Group sizes are generally between 6 - 8 and teaching assistance is provided in each session.
Study OutlineAll courses aim to teach new skills, and develop old ones. All courses include maths, English and ICT-and work experience Some other areas you may study include: Carpentry Cooking Sport Personal & Social Development Gardening/ horticulture Handling money and budgeting
Entry RequirementsThere are no entry requirements-except the willingness to come along and try your best.
EquipmentPlease bring in the following: Dictionary/smartphone Pencil case with pens, pencil, highlighter etc Note pad A4 pad of lined paper Ring binder folder
AttendanceCourses are usually three days a week, but work experience may fall on days that you do not usually attend. Your Progress Coach and Teachers will talk about this with you.
AssessmentAssessment evidence may be produced through photographs, tutor observation, worksheets, witness statements etc. which you will need to gather in a qualification portfolio.
ProgressionPossible progression onto Full time education at Entry Level 3 or above.
QualificationWe offer a selection of OCN West Midlands qualifications in addition to Functional Skills and Progression Unit qualifications. Diploma in Living Independently Diploma in Developing Employability Skills
