IntroductionThis course is a three hour workplace first aid refresher training programme to comply with the HSE regulations 1981. It covers lifesaving procedures designed to refresh the skills of qualified first aiders in the workplace.
Study OutlineThe HSE recommends that on completion of training successful candidates should be able to: assess the situation in an emergency, administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure), administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation, administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding, administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding, administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock.
Entry RequirementsA valid First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.
EquipmentIt would be useful to have your handbook or manual from your previous course.
Attendance3 hours.
AssessmentAlthough there is no formal examination candidates are expected to demonstrate all of the practical procedures taught on the course. Candidates will be awarded a certificate of attendance.
ProgressionThe first Aid in the Workplace and Emergency First Aid in the Workplace certificate is valid for 3 years, after which a First Aid in the Workplace Requalification (12 hours) must be undertaken. There is a strong recommendation to take the annual 3 hour refresher training to maintain skills.
