IntroductionThis is a full-time one year programme for learners wishing to become qualified in Hairdressing. You will need to show good communication skills and confidence when meeting new people.
Study OutlineMost of this course will be delivered in a practical environment and will allow you to progress your skills in a commercial Hair salon environment with continual supervision, support and assessment. In addition to your main qualification, you will develop skills in client care and communication and health & safety. You will also acquire skills in cutting, setting, blow drying, long hair work, perming and colouring.
Entry RequirementsYou need to gain 4 GCSEs at grade D or above. You will undergo an interview involving a pre-entry assessment in literacy and numeracy.
EquipmentWe recommend you purchase a Hairdressing kit and uniform. Details of this will be provided at enrolment.
AttendanceOne year, full-time, approx 3 days a week (dependant on timetables) A minimum of 95% attendance is required.
AssessmentAssessment is ongoing, allowing you to learn at your own pace and achieve a high level of competency. You will be assessed by observation and on-line tests.
ProgressionUpon completion you will be advised of your progression opportunities which can include: VRQ or NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing or NVQ or VRQ in Beauty Therapy.
