|Introduction||The world of Make Up is a diverse one with different specialisms and pathways. Our level 3 course enables learners to progress on from our level 2 make up programme, other related programmes and industry experienced individuals. The different pathways cater for the tailored passions of your chosen career journey.
These courses will be a stepping stone into the industry or higher education.
Work experience and competition opportunities are an integral part of the courses.|
|Study Outline||There are a number of generic units which are across both pathways, these include; Health and Safety, Cosmetic Make Up Science, Photographic Make Up, Anatomy and Physiology and high definition Airbrush Make Up and Airbrush techniques.
In addition to the above units each specialist route has their own tailored subjects to meet industry requirements.
Beauty Make Up Route:
Different mediums of eyelash enhancements
Bridal, prom and special occasion make up and hair up design
Demonstrate and promote products and services
Theatrical & Media Make Up Route:
Style and fit postiche and hair pieces
Camouflage make up for the coverage of skin irregularities
Create, cast, fit and colour prosthetics pieces and bald caps
Accident and injury techniques
Characterisation make up for theatre and media |
|Entry Requirements||GCSE English and Mathematics grade C or above.
A proven artistic ability
Previous level 2 course in Make up, Beauty, Hair or other related subject.
Applicants with prior industry experience will be considered for direct level 3 training.|
|Equipment||You will be required to purchase a number of different kits appropriate to your chosen pathway, with these we will tailor what you have to buy due to what you have collected from previous courses or industry. This will be discussed at interview.
All of our kits have been professionally sourced and are competitively priced.

Special effects and prosthetics
A make up artistry uniform is also a requirement |
|Attendance||1 year full time. Work experience opportunities may be outside of college hours and are expected in addition to core programme of study. |
|Assessment||All assessments are continual and ongoing and a service portfolio of evidence must be produced by you to demonstrate your skills and underpinning knowledge.
Each unit has a graded assessment as a summary and is awarded a pass, merit or distinction.
A synoptic assessment covering a number of units then takes place at the end of the year as a final major project.
There will also be an externally issued and marked end of year examination. |
|Progression||The qualifications studied will offer opportunity to work within a range of sectors which may include TV, film and theatre work as a freelance make up artist and also working within the retail and cosmetic industries. Progression into higher education is also an option to do either a HND or degree.
Some higher education establishments may require additional entry requirements. |
