IntroductionThis Advanced Apprenticeship is designed to follow on from the successful completion of the Intermediate apprenticeship. The framework knowledge and skills elements will support you to be competent at diagnosing faults on forklift truck systems.
Study OutlineExamples of units you may cover include: • Knowledge of diagnosis and rectification of forklift truck auxiliary electrical faults • Knowledge of diagnosis and rectification of forklift truck engine faults • Competency in diagnosing and rectifying forklift truck engine faults • Knowledge in diagnosis and rectification of forklift truck chassis faults • Competency in diagnosing and rectifying truck auxiliary electrical faults • Competency in diagnosing and rectifying truck chassis system faults • You will study Functional Skills level 2 in English, Mathematics and Information Communication Technology
Entry RequirementsGCSE grades A-C preferably in English, Maths & ICT. You will also have achieved the intermediate apprenticeship programme at NWHC. If you have experience at level 2 in an engineering discipline we will discuss a suitable route with you. All candidates must sit an Initial & Diagnostic assessments (College entrance assessment). EquipmentYou will require steel toe cap shoes, overalls, notepad, pen / pencil and a memory stick / portable data storage device
AttendanceFive, two week blocks over one year. (10 weeks)
AssessmentThe apprenticeship will be assessed in a variety of ways including on-line exams, written assignments, completing practical tasks and work based practical observations.
ProgressionWith relevant industrial experience, you could progress to a level 4 Certificate in Advanced Automotive Studies for Master Technicians (QCF) or a Higher National Certificate.
QualificationIMIAL Level 3 Diploma in forklift truck Maintenance & Repair (VRQ) and an IMIAL level 3 Diploma in Forklift Truck Maintenance & Repair Competence (VCQ)
