|Introduction||This Apprenticeship is designed by industry specialists and the Institute of the Motor Industry to provide you with the skills, knowledge and abilities to become a Forklift Truck Engineer. You will learn how to carry out routine truck maintenance and inspections including servicing, repairing-replacing parts and maintaining records to industry standards. You will also be guided with the customer assistance that is a major part of an engineers role.|
|Study Outline||Examples of units you may cover include: -Knowledge of health, safety and good housekeeping in the forklift environment -Knowledge of materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in the forklift environment -Knowledge of support for job roles in the forklift work environment -Skills in materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in the automotive environment -Competency in health, safety and good housekeeping in the workshop environment -Competency in supporting job roles in the work environment You will also cover: Employment Rights and Responsibilities as well as Functional Skills in English, Mathematics and Information Communication Technology.|
|Entry Requirements||GCSE grades A-C, preferably English, Maths and ICT. All candidates must sit an Initial assessment/Diagnostics (College entrance assessment) Level 1. Support can be offered to employers with regards to supporting your recruitment process, for example, advertising nationally, initial shortlisting and assessment centres. (If required)|
|Equipment||You will require steel toe cap boots, overalls, pen/pencil, notepad/folder and a memory stick.|
|Attendance||Five, two week blocks in year one (10 weeks)
Five, two week blocks in year two (10 weeks)
We encourage our apprentices to work individually setting challenging deadlines from block to block, we have experienced early completions this year.|
|Assessment||The Apprenticeship will be assessed in a variety of different ways such as online tests, written assignments, college and work based practical tests.
We support the English, Mathematics and ICT elements using qualified and experienced tutors and not a virtual learning package. We are also in a position to odder additional learning support should an apprentice require this requirement.|
|Progression||Apprentices could progress to an Advanced Forklift Apprenticeship programme (level 3)|
|Qualification||Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in forklift truck Maintenance and Repair|
