|Introduction||Childrens development can be influenced by factors such as nutrition, and gain an understanding of the various safeguarding responsibilities of those who care for children and young people. Learners will also discover the importance of activities, play and interaction, and learn how to contribute positively to the development of children and young people at different stages.
The qualification is suitable for anyone currently working with or intending to work with children and young people and wishes to expand their knowledge of caring for these age groups. Topics covered are safeguarding, importance of early learning, food and nutrition, the value of play and child development.

|Entry Requirements||The qualification is available for learners who are 19+ at the start of the Academic year. There are no specific
learning requirements but learners will need to demonstrate that they can fulfil the requirements of the awarding
body assessment criteria and comply with the relevant literacy and numeracy aspects of the qualification|
|Equipment||Each learner receives a set of high quality learning materials comprising assessment booklets and knowledge and understanding books which are a valuable resource to keep for reference purposes.|
|Attendance||The qualification is delivered over a period of 12 weeks.|
|Assessment||Learners receive the support of a dedicated assessor and complete Unit Assessments to demonstrate that they have met the qualification learning aims and assessment criteria.|
