|Introduction||This nationally accredited qualification is designed to increase awareness of the importance of the prevention and control of infection whilst providing an appreciation and understanding of current legislation and best practice.|
|Study Outline||The qualification covers a wide range of topics including the principles of infection prevention and control, the causes and spread of infection and the importance of correct cleaning procedures, decontamination and waste management.
It also discusses the importance of personal hygiene and health in the prevention and control of infection.|
|Entry Requirements||The qualification is available for learners who are 19+ at the start of the Academic year. There are no specific
learning requirements but learners will need to demonstrate that they can fulfil the requirements of the awarding
body assessment criteria and comply with the relevant literacy and numeracy aspects of the qualification|
|Equipment||Each learner receives a set of high quality learning materials comprising assessment booklets and knowledge and understanding books which are a valuable resource to keep for reference purposes.|
|Attendance||The qualification is delivered over a period of 12 weeks.|
|Assessment||Learners receive the support of a dedicated assessor and complete Unit Assessments to demonstrate that they have met the qualification learning aims and assessment criteria.|
