|Introduction||Completion of CST-L3 and an interview for TC-L4 would ensure acceptance onto this qualification. Recognition of additional hours (6 GLH per week) as well as a commitment to agency workplace hours (minimum 100 across 2 years) and supervision is essential.
|Study Outline||There are 7 mandatory units to complete via a CPCAB candidate guide for learners. A variety of evidence is required including classroom observations, assignments and written reflective journals. An external assessment after two-thirds of the year2 is based around learners own counselling skills recorded in exam conditions and then reflected on in an external assessment under exam conditions.
|Entry Requirements||Completion and successful outcome at CST-L3 as well as a personal reference. English and Maths at Level 2 (or equivalent) is essential, as is CSK-L2 and CST-L3 (or equivalent) in counselling training.
|Equipment||You will require stationery, a portfolio folder, and text books. Additional costs will include: own personal therapy, CPD, Supervision and agency fees in addition to the course costs.
|Attendance||Year 1 part time from 9.30am - 3.30pm, or 3.30pm - 9.30pm once a week. CPCAB require a minimum of 85% attendance in order to pass the qualification.
|Assessment||External assessment is a 2 hour paper under exam conditions based on a pre-recorded example of counselling practice at the end of year 2. Internal assessment is a portfolio of evidence across 7 units, including observation of counselling practice. Supervision reports, personal therapy logs, client logs and Agency report are all required documentation for internal assessment. End of year 1 assessment is tutor based with EV support. Essential elements to progress onto Year 2 is own therapy, sufficient evidence across 7 units, agency placement, regular supervision.
|Progression||Following successful completion of all mandatory units, work placement, supervision and agency requirements, external assessment and internal assessment, learners are qualified to work within an agency setting as a qualified Person Centred Practitioner at the end of this 2 year course. They can then sit the BACP certificate of proficiency and progress towards BACP accreditation and Senior Accreditation. Learners who successfully complete all year 1 requirements will be accepted onto year 2 of the diploma.
