|Introduction||Ever wanted to set up your own website or do e-commerce? Have you ever wanted to learn what happens behinds the scenes on a Web Server? Or do you just want to enhance your knowledge in IT? Then this e-commerce based course is the answer. It gives students a broad range of IT skills needed to work either in business managing a network or branch out on their own to develop and run a web based business.|
|Study Outline||The HNC will be broken down into eight units delivered throughout the academic year. All units will require a significant amount of private study designed to develop both your technical and communication skills.
Each unit will require the submission of an assignment based on the semesters content. Your assignment will be graded with a pass, merit or distinction with all units counting towards your final HNC.

|Entry Requirements||Ideally you should have studied Information Technology (IT) / Computing at Level 3, but candidates with suitable experience or a strong desire to learn more about this industry will be considered.
You will require:
GCSE English and GCSE Maths at Grade C or above
1 GCE A Levels (A* C grades)
Relevant BTEC Level 3 qualification in IT at Merit
Access to Higher Education Certificate
Or equivalent IT Experience
All applicants will require an initial assessment and interview by a member of the lecturing team.

|Attendance||You will normally attend around 12 hours of timetabled taught sessions (lectures and tutorials) each week, and we expect you to undertake at least 15 further hours of independent study to complete project work and research|
|Assessment||You will be taught through a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, group work and self-directed study. Assessment is through coursework (presentations, essays and reports).

|Progression||After successfully completing the course you will be able to progress on to the HND in Computing at the college or progress onto the 2nd year of a degree, or gain employment in any of the following industry fields:
