IntroductionThis Apprenticeship will prepare you to work with Children and Young People in a residential provision.
Study OutlinePearson's Edexcel Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare. Pearson's Btec Level 2 Understanding Employment responsibilities and rights in Children and Young People's Settings(ERR) Level 2 OCR Functional skill in English. Level 2 OCR Functional skills in Maths. Level 2 OCR Functional skills in Information and Communications Technology. Examples of units include: Understand the Development of Child and Young People in Residential Childcare. Understand how to Safeguard and Protect Children and Young People in Residential Childcare. With a choice of approximately three options units to obtain a minimum credit value of 61 credits to achieve this overall qualification. Understand how to Support Children and Young People Who Have Experienced Harm or Abuse. Promote Effective Communication and Information Handling in Residential Childcare Settings. Support the Wellbeing and Resilience of Children and Young People
Entry RequirementsFormal entry requirements for the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare are assessed within initial assessments and expectations would be that English, Maths and ICT results would be at Level 1 at least to be taken on to undertake this study programme. If you're interested in becoming an Apprentice, you will need to be employed or find an employer who is recruiting an Apprentice. EquipmentThe equipment required to complete the Apprenticeship would be outlined by the employer and assessor.
AttendanceYou will be allocated an assessor where you will be observed in the work place undertaking planned tasks. A portfolio of evidence for this part of the qualification would also be undertaken where assignments would be set under the direction of the assessor. Understanding Employment responsibilities and rights in Children and Young People's Settings: this component would be delivered through a workbook. All three aspects of the functional skills will be delivered within the workplace provision through a support platform of BKSB and varying resources to support your learning style, which will lead to exams to complete these overall components.
AssessmentAn assessor would be allocated to undertake the varying framework components within the work place and would generally visit at least once a month.
ProgressionLearners who achieve the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare can progress onto the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children's Services dependant on job role.
