Mode Of Provision
This course is designed to meet the needs of students wishing to work in a professional kitchen. It is designed to enhance and develop food preparation and cooking skills.
Areas studied are: NVQ Level 2 in Food preparation and Cooking or equivalent; College Certificate Food Safety in Catering; Functional skills and/or GCSES at an appropriate level. Other opportunities include competition work
Level 1 qualification in Food preparation and cooking, 2 C's and 2 D's GCSE or 18 month industry experience.
Kitchen uniform, basic knife set, probe, course book, stationery. A full uniform list will be provided.
One year, full-time
Assessment for the NVQ course s based on the successful completion of a portfolio of evidence, demonstrating practical skills and understanding of the subject. Some of the additional qualifications have formal examinations.
Throughout the course you will build up a portfolio of evidence of your kitchen skills and knowledge, and take part in practical assessments. It will also be delivered by theory classes with written assessments.
