|Introduction||Individuals in the role of a Professional Accounting/Tax Technician will have responsibility for creating, and / or verifying and reviewing, accurate and timely financial information within the organisation in which they are employed or on behalf of another organisation. This will be performed in order to meet relevant ethical, professional and legal standards, and will utilise the individuals knowledge of the business systems and processes, as well as standard accounting and tax practices. This role may exist in an accounting practice, a professional services company, HMRC or the accounting function of a business or other organisation.
This occupation covers two areas of specialism, accounting and tax. A successful apprentice will have met the core requirements common to both areas and one of the two technical knowledge option requirements.
|Study Outline||You will study the AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting during your on-programme training which includes the following 5 units:
Financial Statements of Limited Companies
Management Accounting: Budgeting
Management Accounting: Decision and Control
In addition you will demonstrate how you meet the requirements of the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours required to be a Professional Accounting / Taxation Technician.
After a minimum of 12 months and in agreement with your employer you will pass through the Gateway to End Point Assessment (EPA). The EPA has two parts, a Synoptic Assessment and a Reflective Portfolio to show that you have met the requirements of the Apprenticeship Standard |
|Entry Requirements||At least 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above which must include English and maths.
It is expected that you will have completed the Advanced Diploma in Accounting (Level 3) and achieved a minimum of a Merit grade.
You must also be in contracted employment and work a minimum of 30 hours per week.|
|Equipment||You will be supplied with textbooks and access to an electronic portfolio system.|
|Attendance||One full day per week at college to study the Professional Diploma. You will also receive monthly work-based visits from an Assessor to support you in achieving the knowledge, skills and behaviours required of the Standard|
|Assessment||The Professional Diploma in Accounting is assessed by a computer based test per unit.
The EPA is assessed by the AAT who will review your portfolio and supporting statements. |
|Progression||Learners who achieve this Apprenticeship Standard may consider higher level study.|
