|Introduction||Improving English and Maths courses are currently available free to all adults and is the perfect course for you to complete if you are looking to gain an English qualification.|
|Study Outline||Learners can work at their own level from Entry level 1-3 or Level 1 - 2 in Functional Skills. These courses are intended to link every day English with access to employment and the opportunity to progress up to Level 1 /2. The governments aim is for all learners/employment seekers to attain a Level 2 in English and maths. The Level 2 achievement meets this aim and gives access to higher education including university (UCAS points).
This course will look at the three main areas of English:
- Speaking and listening|
|Entry Requirements||You will need to take an initial assessment(IA) in English and maths, to ensure you are enrolled on the right level for you to succeed and identify any support you might need. This usually takes around 30 minutes.
You will also need to complete a short interview with our team. We will ask you about any recent learning experience and qualifications you have already.

|Equipment||Pen, paper, folder & dictionary.|
|Attendance||You are expected to attend every lesson to help you succeed.|
|Assessment||There will be opportunities to take practice assessments before a final exam. You will work with the tutor to decide when you take the final exam.
The final exam is 1.5 hours long.|
|Progression||Learners can look to progress to Level 1/2 which can then lead to looking at taking the GCSE English. |
