|Introduction||GCSE English offers you the chance to achieve the qualification you need to gain entry to university or further your career aspirations in your field of employment.|
|Study Outline||The specification will enable students of all abilities to develop the skills they need to read, understand
and analyse a wide range of different texts covering the 19th, 20th and 21st century time periods as well
as to write clearly, coherently and accurately using a range of vocabulary and sentence structures.
The exam is the language element of the course and in preparation for this you will study newspaper and magazine articles, autobiographies, travel writing, letters, diaries and writing from other cultures. You will also be asked to take part in speaking and listening activities both individually and in groups.|
Initial assessment result of Level 2
And where possible:
Evidence of GCSE grade 3
Evidence of Grade D (gained within the last 3 years)
Evidence of Functional skills Level 2 (gained within the last 3 years)
|Equipment||Pen, Paper, Folder and writing equipment.|
|Attendance||Three hours per week until the examinations and attendance is expected at every lesson.
Friday: 11.00 to 14.30|
|Assessment||During the course there are opportunities for you to carry out practice tests in preparation for your final exams:
Paper 1 Tuesday 5th June 2018
Paper 2 Friday 8th June 2018
Please ensure that you can attend these dates as there are no further opportunities for exams.
