This course will provide students with the opportunity to progress into their second year of study in Fashion & Textiles. If you are considering a career in the exciting world of fashion, this programme will provide you with an intensive and realistic introduction. The programme includes Fashion shows, Competitions, Visits to exhibitions, Fashion trips to London and other major fashion capitals and projects set by industry. All Fashion students will have access to our specialised equipment and facilities. This includes a fully equipped machine room with industrial sewing machines and overlockers, design studios with industry standard computers and software. The programme is offered as a 90 Credit Diploma in Fashion and Clothing Diploma in the first year and subject to satisfactory completion of the first year, students will progress to completing the Extended Diploma in the second year.|
|Study Outline||You will study a wide range of Fashion units in this highly structured programme. You will be introduced to the techniques of: Fashion Design, Illustration and Presentation, Fashion Textiles, Fashion CAD (Photoshop and illustrator) Pattern Cutting, Garment Technology, Garment Construction and Contextual studies.
|Entry Requirements||90 Credit/ Foundation Diploma in Art & Design (Fashion and Textiles) Year 1. |
|Equipment||Specialist Fashion equipment packs are ordered through the College and can be paid for in instalments or for those in need, claimed through the College Bursary. |
|Attendance||Learners will study over four days a week with supplementary workshops when required.|
|Assessment||Assessment will be through work checks, critiques, tutor and learner reviews, formal assessment of portfolio. Five units are internally assessed, two units are externally assessed. Students are required to record their project development in an appropriate format for each assignment e.g. sketchbook. Progress is monitored by continuous assessment procedures. Students receive regular feedback at assessment points during the course. Students will be required to complete all units and the points scored for each unit form the end grade.|
|Progression||The programme provides a nationally recognised qualification for those who wish to move on to Higher Education at Degree or HND level. Students may progress onto the HND in Design for Fashion and Textiles at the College. It also provides good
opportunities for those wishing to enter the fashion industry or set up their own business.|
|Qualification||BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design (Fashion and Clothing). This is equivalent to three A levels.|
