|Introduction||This is a highly successful course that offers students the opportunity of learning and developing the practical and creative skills required in preparation for work in the graphic design industry.|
|Study Outline||The course covers areas such as corporate identity, digital photography, illustration, web design, branding, publicity, packaging and editorial design. The first year of the programme focuses on diagnostic approaches to solving design problems using two and three-dimensional methods. The second year contains with greater emphasis on commercial practice. Engagement in work placements, commercial projects and national competitions allow students the opportunity of experiencing work at industry level.|
|Entry Requirements||18+ at Entry, with a creative portfolio of work reflecting personality, imagination, enthusiasm, drive and maturity, plus one of the following: 240 Tariff Points, BTEC ND with MMM, 3 A Levels, Level 3 Dip in Foundation Studies (Art & Design), GCSE English grade C or above, or Level 2 Communication.|
|Equipment||An equipment list will be supplied prior to commencement on the course.|
|Attendance||Two years full-time or three years part-time.|
|Assessment||There is continuous assessment involving two formal assessment points in the first year and two in the second year. Assessment is by internal and external academic and industry based personnel, and is regulated by the assessment guidelines set out by the awarding body, Edexcel.|
|Progression||Progression onto a Higher Education programme or employment.|
