|Introduction||This programme has a broad base of Graphic Design and Photography elements, which enables learners to gain understanding, knowledge and skills across the diverse range of design disciplines. The course comprises a teaching and learning partnership; study is fully supported through tutorials and tutor review to facilitate individual skill development. Learners are equipped with professional practices to develop a portfolio of work to support progression onto Level 3 Further Education courses.|
|Study Outline||Individual and group based practical assignment briefs give learners the opportunity to utilise and integrate traditional and electronic skills and techniques to develop a diverse range of creative outcomes. Briefs cover a wide range of specialisms including Graphic Design, Packaging, Advertising, Corporate Identity, Illustration, Typography, 3D, and Photography Techniques (such as portraiture, landscape, studio and editing processes). There is also an exam unit that will be set as a task/course work based project over the course of 9 weeks with a 20 hour supervised session at the end of the project, 15 of those hours will be informal supervision and 5 hours will be formal supervision.|
|Entry Requirements||Applicants should be 16+ at time of entry with Four GCSEs at grade D or above, a Level 1 Diploma or A Level Certificates, or any other relevant qualification.
A portfolio of work showing evidence of creativity and imagination is required at interview.|
|Equipment||An equipment list will be supplied prior to commencement on the course. A range of Art equipment is available to purchase at the shop located at the Hinckley Campus at cost price.|
|Attendance||Full-time, normally 3 days a week.|
|Assessment||Assessment will be through work checks, critiques, tutor and learner reviews, formal assessment of portfolio and presentations.|
|Progression||You can progress on to Level 3 Further Education courses.
With the aim to then progress on to higher programmes of study both within the College or at university, or gain employment within the design industry.
