|Introduction||This is a highly successful course that offers students the opportunity of learning and developing the practical and creative skills required in preparation for work in the creative industries.|
|Study Outline||The course covers areas such as painting, drawing, printmaking, digital photography, film making, animation, illustration, glass and ceramics as well as creative problem solving. The first year of the programme focuses on diagnostic approaches to solving creative problems using two and three-dimensional methods. The second year contains with greater emphasis on individual practice. Engagement in professional development and participation in group exhibitions as well as national competitions allow students the opportunity of experiencing working as a creative practitioner.|
|Entry Requirements||18+ at entry, with a creative portfolio of work reflecting personality, imagination, enthusiasm, drive and maturity, plus one of the following: 240 Tariff Points, BTEC Extended Diploma with MMM, 3 A Levels, Level 3 Dip in Foundation Studies (Art & Design), GCSE English grade C or above, or Level 2 Communication. Mature learner entry will be considered and based on aptitude at interview.

|Equipment||An equipment list will be supplied prior to commencement on the course.|
|Attendance||Two years full-time or three years part-time.|
|Assessment||There is continuous assessment involving two formal assessment points in the first year and two in the second year. Assessment is by internal and external academic and industry based personnel, and is regulated by the assessment guidelines set out by the awarding body, Edexcel.|
