|Introduction||This programme has a broad base, which enables learners to gain understanding, knowledge and skills across the diverse range of graphic design disciplines. The course comprises a teaching and learning partnership; study is fully supported through tutorials and tutor review to facilitate individual skill development. Learners are equipped with professional graphic practices to develop a portfolio of work to support progression on the Extended Diploma, higher education or employment.|
|Study Outline||Individual and group based practical assignment briefs (simulative and live) give learners the opportunity to utilise and integrate traditional and electronic skills and techniques to develop a diverse range of creative outcomes. Briefs cover a wide range of graphic specialisms including Packaging, Typographic Design, Advertising, Corporate Identity, Information Graphics, Illustration and Photography. Learners also study a contextual studies unit.|
|Entry Requirements||Applicants should be 16+ at entry with a minimum of four GCSEs at grade C or above, or any other relevant qualification. A portfolio of work showing evidence of creativity and imagination is required at interview.|
|Equipment||An equipment list will be supplied prior to commencement on the course.|
|Attendance||One full-time year of study.|
|Assessment||Assessment will be through work checks, critiques, tutor and learner reviews, formal assessment of portfolio.
Four units are internally assessed, two units are externally assessed.|
|Progression||You can progress on to an Extended Diploma, with the aim to then progress on to higher programmes of study both within the College or at university, or gain employment within the graphics industry.|
