|Introduction||The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design is a one year course for students who wish to access a career in Art & Design and have achieved four GCSEs at grade D or above, plus an Art & Design portfolio which shows your potential to benefit and progress on the course.
|Study Outline||The course consists of the following units Core Units: Contextual References in Art and Design; 2D Visual Communication; 3D Visual Communication; Using Ideas to Explore, Develop and Produce Art and Design; Building an Art and Design Portfolio; Working in the Art and Design Industry.|
|Entry Requirements||You should have achieved four GCSEs at grade D or above, plus show an Art & Design portfolio which shows your potential to benefit and progress on the course.
|Equipment||You will be sent a materials list prior to enrolment. Most materials can be purchased from the College shop. Paint brushes are a must. You will be required to buy sketchbooks for each lesson. Tutors will advise you on what you need to purchase.|
|Attendance||One year, full-time.|
|Assessment||Assessment is by project work (course-based work presented for assessment). There are no exams for this course, apart from functional skills.|
|Progression||Successful completion of the course is equal to four GCSEs at C and above and will enable you to progress onto a higher level course, or gain basic employment within the field of Art & Design. You can also take additional GCSEs alongside the qualification and will be expected to take 1 Functional Skill in Communication, depending on the results of your initial assessment.|
