IntroductionThis is a beginners hand building and throwing course aimed at adults who would like to learn basic pottery skills and for those who have some experience of throwing, and would like to further develop their skills. This is an opportunity to learn new skills and brush up on essential techniques.
Study OutlineThe course will cover: Clay preparation – wedging techniques, centering clay on the wheel, throwing basic cylinders then moving on to different forms including:- Pinching, Coiling, Slabbing, Creative use of moulds, Surface decoration using coloured slips and Finishing and glazing techniques.
Entry RequirementsNA
EquipmentEquipment including hand tools are provided. There will be a charge for clay which is to be purchased. This will be discussed at the first session. You will also need an old Shirt or Apron.
