Music Technology Diploma Level 3 at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College

This music technology course focuses on music technology within the area of production and is aimed at learners who do not wish to play an instrument or take the performance route but are keen to have a career in the more technical side of the music industry. Therefore you do not necessarily need instrumental knowledge to be successful on this programme however you will be developing a wider understanding of musical theories to support your work within technology.

Music Technology Course

You are taught by specialist tutors who are all experienced practitioners of their field at our Hinckley campus. You will use the college computer music suite, to develop your sequencing and production skills. You will also have intensive use of our state of the art recording studio.

  • The sound and music industry

Course Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at C and above (preferably including English). Although not essential a history of musical study will help (GCSE or equivalent).

Attendance

One year, full-time. Successful completion then leads onto the Extended Diploma for a further one year, full-time.

Assessment

You will be assessed several times in each individual module over the period of the programme. This will include a variety of methods including presentations, portfolio work, written tasks, and a theory test towards the end of the unit.

Progression

Successful completion of the BTEC 90 Credit Diploma in Music Technology/Production may lead on to the BTEC Extended Diploma in Music Technology/Production and then university. Alternatively you could go straight into the music industry.
