Getting back into education shouldn’t depend on your financial situation. Money worries shouldn’t get in the way of achieving your goals and ambitions. Starting this academic year (2018/2019), if you are aged 19 years and over and earn up to £15,736 each year, you will be able to benefit from free adult courses. It’s up to you whether you’ll study a full-time course or a part-time course, the good news is that you will do it without having to pay any tuition fees.
Previous qualifications won’t be considered as eligibility criteria, however, to be eligible for free adult courses you must:
- be in full or part-time employment and earn less than £15,736 a year ( wage slips or self-assessment form will be required)
- want to study a level 2 course

However, if you want to study a Level 3 or above course, you may be able to access an Advanced Learner Loan. Getting a loan doesn’t depend on your household income and there’s no credit check. You won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £25,000 a year. More information here.
