Students from North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College have been helping out Bedworth Cricket Club over the last few months.
20 students on the Foundation Learning course at the College have sanded and painted a whopping 150 panels surrounding the pitch. They also stained benches and completed ground maintenance as part of the project.
The Foundation Learning programme is designed for students aged 16-24 years with special educational needs and/or disabilities. It is a personalised programme designed to help learners develop a range of social, academic and vocational skills, encouraging independent living and employability. This project allowed the students to gain valuable work experience as well as take part in community work.
Lecturer Ian Lee attended the opening of the pavilion on Sunday 15 July which saw the Bedworth Cricket Club first Team play the Wasps Rugby Club.
Alf Baker, Committee Member said: “On behalf of the committee and members of Bedworth cricket club, we would like to thank [the College] for allowing Ian Lee to bring his students to the club to paint the fence and sight screens. It has been a great help to the club and community.”
