The Hospitality and Catering Department have been on the road again. This time they travelled all the way to Llandrillo College in Wales to compete in the Western Regional Heats of the UK Young Seafood Chef of the Year.
Lecturer Jason Thacker tells us how they got on…
“On Friday 12 May, two students Joe Wykes and Scott Cufflin along with myself attended Llandrillo College in Wales to compete in the Western Regional Heats of the UK Young Seafood Chef of the Year Competition.”
“As part of the heats, they had to cook a 3-course menu using specified fish for 6 covers. The two as always did a fantastic job and we were crowned winners of the Western Regional Heats! This now means we progress into the Grand Final of the UK Young Seafood Chef of the Year 2017.”
There is a great range of prizes up for grabs for the winning team:
- £500 vouchers for each team member
- A Thermomix TM31 food processor
- £1,000 voucher for their college to spend on Russums catering equipment
- A four-day culinary experience in Holland courtesy of Koppert Cress!
Congratulations to Joe and Scott, their hard work is really paying off – fingers crossed for them in the June finals!
