Hairdressing, Barbering and Complementary Therapy students from North Warwickshire and Hinckley College teamed up with The Healthy Living Network and provided fabulous pampering treatments to the local community. Free pamper sessions by NWHC students were provided at Wembrook Community Centre in Nuneaton as part of a ‘Feel Good Day’ organised by the charity to help lift up the spirits of residents living in Nuneaton.
Manicures, hair cuts, Indian head massages and blow drys were just a few of the treatments given throughout the day, and NWHC students were able to gain valuable skills in real life situations and build work experience from the sessions, helping to prepare them for the industry.
The Healthy Living Network are a community-based project who work with disadvantaged communities within Nuneaton and Bedworth and promote health, well-being and personal care providing a feel good factor for those looking to improve their lifestyles.
Lynn Gutteridge, Hairdressing/Barbering Lecturer at NWHC, reflected “It was great to see a whole year worth of work come together so successfully, the students were exceptionally professional, a credit to the industry and the college.”
The clients were also left thrilled with the support of the students and their finished results of their treatments, “ This was a lovely experience, I have put my trust in this student and she has looked after me brilliantly.”(Maria, client).
