Hairdressing and Makeup Artistry students from North Warwickshire & Hinckley College bagged seven medals during national hairdressing competitions this week.
A number of students travelled to Blackpool on 12 and 13 March to take part in the Association of Hairdresser & Therapists National Finals at the impressive Winter Gardens.
Throughout the day students went head to head in a variety of competitions including prosthetics, airbrushing, fantasy makeup, body painting, ladies evening style, barbering and gents long hair styling.
The finals followed the regional heats which were hosted by the College last month.
Hairdressing and Makeup Artistry students who triumphed on the day include:
- Sorrel Sutton – Gold in Prosthetics
- Jess Seals – Gold in Air Brush
- Rana Miller – 3rd in Fantasy Makeup
- Sasha Dowdall – 4th in Ladies’ Evening Hair
- Wendy Lydell – 4th in Men’s Long Hair Blow Dry
School students who are currently studying Hairdressing with the College also scooped medals in Evening Hair:
- Lydia Moores 2nd and Sian Taylor 3rd
The event is organised by the Association of Hairdresser and Therapists, a national network of specialists who hold annual competitions at a regional and national level.
Leanne Newitt, Lecturer at the College said: “Congratulations to all those who competed, the work the produced was incredible, they did themselves and the College proud.
“Preparing students for the world of work is at the heart of everything we do here at the College. By competing on a national platform, students have had the opportunity to build their confidence and network with peers and employers from the industry.”
