Level 6 Visual Media - Case Study

Beatah Chikwaikwai
Level 6 BA (Hons) Visual Media

Beatah is a mature student from Knighton and Eyres Monsell near Wigston, currently in the final year of a Level 6 programme in Visual Media at South Leicestershire College. Beatah moved to the UK from Zimbabwe more than a decade ago and has been working as a healthcare support worker.

While continuing to work part-time in healthcare, Beatah successfully achieved an HND in Creative Media Production at the College and is looking forward to graduating with a BA (Hons) in Visual Media, awarded by Coventry University, at the end of her final year in 2018.

Beatah believes that film-making is ‘in her blood’ and remembers her father being a photography enthusiast as she was growing up. As part of her course at South Leicestershire College, Beatah has shot and edited many original films including news broadcasts, documentaries and even some comic drama.

Alongside her studies, Beatah has been making videos for a network of churches across the UK, capturing events, celebrations and training sessions on film. She plans to set up her own business offering film-making services to church groups and other community organisations in the future.
