MoneyConcerned about the cost of studying? There is plenty of support available to make sure you can study worry free.

Want to study a full-time course?

If you are aged 16-18 on a full-time course there are no course or examination fee. For some courses, material fees will apply.

Partial or full fee remissions may be available for students aged 19+ if you are claiming benefits.

The Discretionary Bursary Funds help students of all ages with the costs of learning, including help with fees, childcare, materials and travel. To find out if you are eligible, talk to our Reception Team.

Looking to study a Higher Education course? You may be eligible for student loans and grants from Student Finance England.

Aged 19 or over?

If you are aged 19 or over and are looking to study a Level 3 or above course, you may be able to access an Advanced Learner Loan. Further information is available www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan

Getting a Loan doesn’t depend on your household income and there’s no credit check. You won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £21,000 a year.

When applying for the Advanced Learning Loan online you will be asked the following information:

  • Name of college or training organisation
  • UK Provider Reference number
  • Course trainer code (if applicable)

A letter will be sent from us to each individual containing the correct information for you and your programme to compete the application form correctly. You will also be given a reference number from the College. This number is unique to each applicant and can be quoted if you have any queries (it isn't transferable to other applicants).

Paying your fees

  • Fees Under £300need to be paid in full at enrolment.
  • Fees Over £300 - can be paid in 3 consecutive monthly instalments if the course is over 12 weeks in duration, with the first instalment paid on enrolment. The remaining 2 instalments to be paid by direct debit.

Free meals

You may be eligible for a free meal on the days you attend College or course placement if you are:

Aged between 16 and 18 on 31 August 2018, OR, Aged between 19 and 25 on 31 August 2018 and have a Learning Difficulty Assessment or Education Health and Care Plan

And:

Your parent/carer is in receipt of one of the following:

  • Income Support/Universal Credit
  • Income based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Income related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Guarantee element of the State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credits and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190, as assessed by HMRC
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Working Tax Credit run on (paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credits)

Travel and transport

Learners are eligible for a bus pass if they are on a full time course and live more than 2 miles from the College they are studying at.

If you are travelling to North Warwickshire and Hinckley College by bus, Stagecoach, Roberts and Arriva have a number of different ticket options available. Stagecoach offers College tickets, including some for the number of days per week students are timetabled to attend College. Arriva and Roberts offer an Annual Pass.

Train

Our Nuneaton and Hinckley Campuses are within easy walking distance of the train station, railcards are also available to help you save a third off rail fares.

Parking

Car park postcode: LE10 1QQ

Students will be required to pay for parking at all College campuses. 

Access to the Nuneaton site will only be through barriers on entry, which will only raise on exit through the production of a valid ticket or card. Visitors to Hinckley & Harrowbrook will need the appropriate permit, which can be obtained from the on-site reception.

There is a free 30-minute drop off allowance onsite per day. The cost for parking on all sites is £1 per day. Entry tickets will need to be validated on a daily basis.

We respect our neighbours and the local community and would encourage staff and students not to park where residents can be inconvenienced, safety compromised or traffic regulations broken.
